Aaron is a Director of Hynds Holdings, and Research & Development Director for the Hynds Group. Aaron was one year old when his parents started the business and has grown up alongside the company as it also grew, from a single site in the garage of their South Auckland Papakura home manufacturing retaining wall components in 1973, to an Australasian business, now employing over 900 people.

Aaron spent 7 years in Japan in the 90’s from the age of 18, training in old martial arts and upon his return to NZ created Smarterwater which focuses on the creation of smart infrastructure to enable asset owners to monitor the performance of their assets in real time. Over a period of 10 years Aaron investigated various technologies to enhance infrastructure performance, and lead the Smarterwater Team in developing solutions for 3 waters asset stakeholders.

Recently Aaron has focused his innovation thinking towards creating products that provide profitable outcomes for businesses and communities that are focused on the environment.

With the creation of Peara Reef Aaron believes the ability to provide a system for cleaning the water column, the restoration of ecological systems (that have been damaged by both Man and nature), the creation of infrastructure that supports Aquaculture for local, national and international supply, the improvement in coastal protection systems, and as a habitat for Crayfish, fish and other marine species makes Peara the logical choice for those whom want to secure better outcomes for the environment and the economy.
Aaron’s key aspiration is to “Protect the communities from the environment and to protect the environment from the communities
